Baler, A New Paradise for Surfers

Baler is the capital of Aurora Province. It is located at about the mid point, on the east coast of the main island of Luzon. The town faces the deep blue of the Pacific Ocean, which gives it the surf that it is renowned for.There is a wave just about all year in Baler, but the peak periods for consistent good quality waves is fromOctober to February.

Before, when we say Surfing, Siargao and La Union are the most talked about destinations. Today, Baler establishes its name as another top surfing destination in the country. It can be noted that the town was also featured in a lot of tourist sites, newspapers, and TV shows like Kapuso Mo: Jessica Sojo and Trip na Trip. (more…)

The Banaue Rice Terraces are 2000-year old terraces that were carved into the mountains of Ifugao in the Philippines by ancestors of the indigenous people. The Rice Terraces are commonly referred to by Filipinos as the “Eighth Wonder of the World”. It is commonly thought that the terraces were built with minimal equipment, largely by hand. The terraces are located approximately 1500 meters “5000 ft” above sea level and cover 10,360 square kilometers “about 4000 square miles” of mountainside. They are fed by an ancient irrigation system from the rainforests above the terraces. It is said that if the steps are put end to end it would encircle half the globe. (more…)
