MANILA, Nov. 30 (PNA)– Seven new and promising rock bands rocked the stage in friendly competition for the best band at the Music Hall of the SM Mall of Asia over the weekend when they performed live in front of hundreds of viewers and a board of judges composed of MTV Philippines’ Georgette Tengco, MTV SEA and Greater China’s head of content, Sari Trisulo, rock singer Rico Blanco and actress/singer Karylle.
The judges voted “Faircatch,” barely a year old rock/experimental band that thrives by composing straightforward but catchy songs influenced by numerous artists from a mixture of different genres ranging from rock to alternative, as the winner among the competing bands.
Faircatch earned the judges’ nod because of their creativity, originality of their craft, their crowd appeal as live performers, innovativeness of their lyrics and melody.
The champions were also selected from the top-rated groups due to public votes.

“The seven winners were really what we were looking for. Their unique talents very well characterize what MTV Emerge is all bout– homegrown talents trying to reach out to the world through their own kind of music while proudly representing the Philippines,” said Apl.de.ap who was also one of the judges.
The MTV Emerge winners wowed the audience with their respective music genre. The best-of-the best, Faircatch sat well with the crowd with their hard rock music.
